The Leading Edge: The New, Acceptable Discrimination

Leading Edge

The Story: “Craig James Firing: A Rising Tide of Hostility Over Marriage,” by Janet Parshall at The Christian Post.

The Lead: “Sports Illustrated reported that James was hired regionally by Fox without anyone consulting with upper level management. When a spokesperson from Fox Sports did finally speak, he stated, ‘We just asked ourselves how Craig’s statements would play in our human resources department. He couldn’t say those things here.’ Couldn’t say those things? What things? That no one is born gay? That we have all sinned and we are accountable for our sins, regardless of what that sin might be?”

Why it Matters:  As Parshall makes clear, there is a shift in what is labelled as discrimination or, as how she puts it, “the new, ‘acceptable’ form of discrimination.”  Indeed.  Bakers, florists, photographers, and now retired quarterbacks-turned-color-commentators.  What about you?  You next?

Or, would anyone bother to notice that you hold to a different standard of sexual ethics and worldview?
