The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood has brought on Candi Finch and Jeremy Kimble to serve as assistant editors for its Journal for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (JBMW).
The additions reflect the organization’s commitment to producing scholarly material that will serve pastors, churches, schools, and Christians looking to clarify their complementarian convictions.
“I am thrilled to have the addition of Jeremy Kimble and Candi Finch to the editorial team for JBMW,” said Jason Duesing, editor of the JBMW. “They both bring significant knowledge of the field and issues related to gender studies and biblical manhood and womanhood. Moreover, they each bring a new circle of influence in their respective places of service and beyond. I hope this will only make JBMW stronger as we seek to serve all of our readers.”
CBMW Executive Director Grant Castleberry added: “Both are young, respected scholars who embody the type of evangelical leadership and biblical fidelity that the JBMW has been known for the past 25 years.”
Finch is assistant professor of theology in women’s studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida, as well as both a master of divinity and a doctorate in systematic theology from Southwestern. She’s contributed to a number of books, including the Women’s Evangelical Commentary on the New Testament and Old Testament.
“I am excited to be a part of an organization that stands for biblical truth regarding manhood and womanhood, especially when the culture and many in the church have drifted so far from God’s good design,” Finch said. “As I work with women on my seminary campus, I am burdened for them to understand God’s beautiful design for them as women because the world has profoundly twisted and distorted what it means to be a woman. CBMW has been a valuable resource for me as a professor, and I am delighted to be joining the team.”
Kimble is assistant professor of theology at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College, a master of divinity from Winebrenner Theological Seminary, a master of theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a doctorate in theological studies from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Rachel, have two children, Hannah (9) and Jonathan (6).
“I am ecstatic to serve with CBMW and join up with their vision and mission to promote joyful, Christ-centered complementarianism,” Kimble said. “Issues of this nature are crucial and must be thought about clearly and articulated cogently. Our view of Scripture and hermeneutics, the realities of the gospel, human flourishing, and the health of the home and church all rest on a proper understanding of issues like sexuality, gender, and complementarity.”
Finch and Kimble join a team led by Jason Duesing, the journal’s editor who also serves as provost of Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The team also includes Mathew Sims, who coordinates the journal design for each issue.
The JBMW is an academic journal that CBMW publishes on a semi-annual basis. Its aim is to make scholarly contributions on issues surrounding gender, marriage, sexuality, and more. Subscriptions to the journal are available here.
