If we have learned anything the past few weeks, it is that our culture is broken. Ironically, it seems the further “progress” we make scientifically, the more the culture is lost both morally and theologically.

One of the driving forces of the idolatrous, secular culture is the absolute obsession of being on “the right side of history.” Progressiveness is now one of the highest virtues that can be possessed, and any vestige of piety to an almighty God is antiquated, constricting, and at worse, bigoted.

The slogan “#LoveWins” seems to incapsulate the mantra of our secular day. But is it really love when it is redefined to mean the affirmation of whatever desires and choices that are made regardless of their consequences? Of course, this is an incredibly devastating definition of love that is actually devoid of the very substance itself.

In the midst of this cultural storm, we by God’s grace at CBMW, are standing strong on the issues. We are doubling down on the value and worth of every human created in the image of God. We are doubling down on biblical complementarity in marriage, because we believe this honors God and also leads to our flourishing–and is in fact the building block to marriage itself.

To use a term coined by David Wells, it will be our “holy-love” marriages and families that will set Christians apart going forward. It will be our marriages that are marked by both the love of God and the holiness of God that will be the aroma of Christ to those that are lost.

So we at CBMW are striving to keep equipping the church to live out God’s design for gender, marriage, and sexuality in the “holy-love” of God.

Here is a quick rundown of some of the events we are holding and participating in over the next few months to accomplish that end:

• In September, CBMW is traveling to the Dominican Republic to join Tim Challies and Miguel Nuñez for a conference on marriage, manhood, and leadership at International Baptist Church that will be attended by several thousand pastors and leaders in the DR.
• In November, CBMW is traveling to Atlanta for the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society, where we will host a dinner for leading evangelical scholars to talk about the importance of biblical complementarity.
• In March, CBMW is hosting a young adult ski conference at Snowbird in Salt Lake City, Utah. The theme is Counter-Cultural Relationships. Owen Strachan, Matt Carter, Todd Wagner, GraceAnna Castleberry, and I will be the speakers.
• In April, CBMW is hosting its second national pre-conference to Together for the Gospel in Louisville, KY. The speaker line-up includes Alistair Begg, John Piper, Jackie Hill Perry, Kevin DeYoung, and many, many others.

This summer, our goal is to raise $50,000 towards our annual budget, which will enable CBMW to keep pressing ahead. This is why we posted the ad, featured above, in the July editions of World Magazine.
